ABOUT

North River Company LLC (“NRC”) is a privately held real estate investment and management firm based in New York City. NRC invests in and manages real property on behalf of high net worth individuals, family offices and institutional investors.

NRC owns and operates a highly-diversified portfolio of office, mixed-use, fine art storage, industrial and retail property. Presently, NRC owns and operates over 4,000,000 square feet of mixed-use properties and over 300 acres of ground-up development in New York, Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado and California. NRC has closed on more than 35 acquisitions and dispositions over the past three decades, representing over $2 billion in aggregate transaction volume.

 

The firm seeks to acquire, manage and develop strategically located real estate assets to provide long-term value to investors through cash flow and asset appreciation. NRC’s management experience in a variety of transactions provides a broad background in many types of investments from stabilized assets to value-add properties to long-term redevelopment opportunities. NRC’s long-term viewpoint endeavors to successfully take advantage of and protect against adverse market conditions.

NRC’s management team has extensive commercial real estate investment management experience in an array of markets. NRC’s efforts include joint-venture arrangements, redevelopment of existing occupied properties, ground-up development, repositioning assets, leasing, property management, construction management, assembly of new businesses to create new income streams (self-storage, antique mall, gallery, event space, solar, etc.) and asset management and investment reporting. The management team maintains strong relationships with governmental, civic and business leaders in each location NRC operates. Members of NRC’s team belong to local and national real estate boards/associations, as well as several notable non-profit organizations and academic institutions. NRC takes an active, “hand-on” approach, carefully selecting in-house management teams in each market. NRC’s full-service business model has consistently delivered results for tenants and investors.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

Coleman P. Burke

Chairman & Managing Partner

As the Chairman and Managing Partner of NRC and its related entities, Coley is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of NRC’s investment strategy. With more than 45 years of real estate investment, development and management experience, Coley plays a central role in identifying new opportunities, capital raising, and in our overall investment and management strategy. Coley graduated from St. Paul’s School in 1959, Yale University in 1963 and Case Western Reserve University Law School in 1970. He spent four years (1963-1967) as a Ltjg., Fleet OOD and Communications Officer in the United States Navy. Prior to founding NRC, Coley was admitted to the New York State Bar and practiced law at Burke & Burke in New York City from 1970 to 1983.

Christopher S. Flagg

President, Partner

As President of NRC and its related entities, Chris oversees day-to-day management of all aspects of the firm, which includes managing our teams in New York, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Colorado and California, as well as capital raising. With over 30 years of real estate investment, development and management experience, he plays a leading role in the strategic direction of NRC. Chris joined the management team in 1990. Chris graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1983 and received a B.A. degree from Hamilton College in 1987.

Christopher Pachios

Vice President, Partner

As Vice President of NRC and its related entities, Chris helps to oversee day-to-day operations of the firm, while primarily focusing on new acquisitions, business development and sourcing equity and debt. Chris joined the management team in 2003. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a commercial real estate broker in Boston and New York. He is also a partner in a family real estate business founded by his grandfather in Portland, Maine. Chris graduated from St. Paul’s School in 1994 and received a B.A. degree from Bowdoin College in 1998.

Peter Pachios

Managing Director

As Managing Director of NRC and its related entities, Peter’s responsibilities include acquisitions, asset management, leasing, operations and development. Peter joined the management team in 2007. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for the Boston Red Sox, primarily focusing on growing the non-baseball related business. He is also a partner in a family real estate business founded by his grandfather in Portland, Maine. Peter graduated from St. Paul’s School in 1999 and received a B.A. degree from Georgetown University in 2003.

Adam Myers

Managing Director, Chief Engineer

As Managing Director and Chief Engineer of NRC and its related entities, Adam’s broad range of responsibilities include acquisitions, construction management, asset management, operations, and property management. Adam leads the development, construction and maintenance initiatives throughout the company’s portfolio. Adam joined the management team in 2011. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for over 10 years in real estate development and construction management. He founded, owned and operated a project management consulting company that specialized in commercial construction across North America. Adam graduated from Kenyon College with a B.A. degree in 1997 and the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver with an M.B.A in 2006.

Sandra A. Maldonado

Director, Engineering & Project Management

As a Director of NRC and its related entities, Sandra’s responsibilities include acquisitions, as well as construction, property and facility management across NRC’s portfolio. Sandra joined NRC in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, she was an Associate Engineer with Lockwood Greene, 2000-2004. Sandra graduated with a B.E. from The City College of The City University of New York in 2000, and she is also a certified Engineer in Training (EIT).

Jose A. Gonzalez, Jr.

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Jose oversees all financial matters for NRC and its related entities. Jose joined the management team in 2003. Prior to joining the firm, he served as corporate controller at Matrix Development, and as an assistant controller in the hotel division of Loews Corporation.  Jose graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1985.

Anna I. Burgess

Director

As a Director of NRC and its related entities, Anna leads all marketing initiatives across the portfolio, including branding, digital and print strategies for both current properties and new acquisitions, as well as investor relations. She is also a New York State Licensed Real Estate Salesperson and hangs her license under NRC’s brokerage arm, North River Realty Brokerage Corp. Anna joined NRC in 2015. Prior to joining the firm, she was Assistant Director of Marketing and Operations for luxury e-commerce platform, Clique Chic. Anna graduated from Phillips Academy Andover in 2009 and from the University of Toronto in 2014.

Forrest C. Mas

Director

As Director of NRC, and its related entities, Forrest responsibilities include leasing, asset management, acquisitions, and operations.  Prior to joining the firm, Forrest worked for TS Capital structuring investment products for hedge fund and asset management clients focusing on underwriting, financing modeling, and capital raising. Forrest graduated from Millbrook School in 2007 and received a B.A. degree from St. Lawrence University in 2011.  Forrest is currently a member of REBNY, Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association, and Long Island City Partnership.

Mariah Monks

Director

As a Director of NRC and its related entities, Mariah is responsible for identifying and evaluating real estate investments, including deal underwriting and structuring. Mariah joined NRC in 2016. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at Guggenheim Partners in its Real Estate Finance Group, where she underwrote senior and subordinate debt investments for its Life Insurance Company and Commercial Mortgage Backed Security origination platforms. Mariah graduated from The Waynflete School in 2009 and received a B.A .from Hamilton College in 2013, where she was a member of the women’s lacrosse team. She is currently a member of Urban Land Institute.

Andrew C. Dulac

Vice President, Massachusetts Operations

Andy joined NRC in 2009. As Vice President of Massachusetts Operations, Andy oversees the day-to-day management of NRC’s Greater Boston portfolio, including leasing, tenant relations, and property management. Andy also focuses on new business development and assists in acquisitions in the Greater Boston area. Andy received a B.A. degree from Bowdoin College in 1998 and an M.S. in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in 2009.

Benjamin R. Dulac

Director, Massachusetts Operations

Ben joined NRC in 2013. As Manager of Massachusetts Operations, Ben manages the day-to-day operation of NRC’s Somerville property, and focuses on all aspects of construction and maintenance within NRC’s Greater Boston portfolio. Prior to joining NRC, Ben owned and operated a construction company in New Hampshire. Ben graduated from Holderness School in 1997 and received a B.S. degree from The University of New Hampshire in 2001.

John S. Glynn

Director

As Director of NRC and its related entities, John’s responsibilities include identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, deal underwriting and structuring, asset management, operations and development. John joined NRC in 2018 and is a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson in Massachusetts. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in Equity Capital Markets in Boston for JP Morgan, UBS, and Deutsche Bank. John graduated from the Noble & Greenough School in 1997, received his B.A. from Bowdoin College in 2001, and his M.B.A from Babson in 2012.

Douglas Gensler

Director, Design

Doug joined NRC in 2022 as Director of Design. Doug brings over 30 years of design practice experience, having previously been a Partner and Managing Director for a large global design firm. He provides hands-on leadership and strategic direction to design-related aspects across the portfolio. His focus is on driving solutions that support the firm’s investments to create value by delivering innovative, sustainable and high-performing places and spaces. Doug graduated from Cornell University in 1991 with BArch and is an executive member of Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art & Planning Advisory Council.

Ronny Lestan

Analyst

As an analyst at NRC and its related entities, Ronny’s responsibilities include evaluating real estate investments, deal underwriting and structuring, and asset management. Ronny joined NRC in 2021. Ronny graduated from the Roxbury Latin School in 2016 and received a B.A. in Economics from Bowdoin College in 2020, where he was a member of the men’s ice hockey team.

Lisa Whitescarver

Vice President, California

Lisa joined NRC in 2014. Lisa and Erik Burke share responsibility for acquisitions, leasing and property management on the West Coast, out of NRC’s Marin County office. Prior to NRC, Lisa was an equity Partner at Hines, an institutional real estate investment company, where she worked on land and building acquisitions, entitlements, ground-up construction projects, leasing and building retrofits. Lisa graduated from The Hotchkiss School in 1985, Yale University in 1989, and the MIT Center for Real Estate in 1995.

Erik Burke

Vice President, California

Erik joined NRC in 2014. Erik and Lisa Whitescarver share responsibility for acquisitions, leasing and property management on the West Coast, out of our Marin County office. Prior to NRC, Erik worked in finance for nearly 20 years. He served as Managing Director of Montgomery Securities, Partner at JMP Securities, and Head of Institutional Sales at WR Hambrecht. Erik graduated from St. Paul’s School in 1987 and Princeton University in 1991.

Anthony J. Gatti

Vice President, Maine

Tony joined NRC in 1993. As Vice President, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Portland and Brunswick, Maine teams, primarily focusing on leasing, tenant relations and property management. Tony is a native of Maine and lives in Scarborough, Maine.

Daniel P. Jacques

Director, Maine Operations

Dan joined NRC in 2005 and helps manage the day-to-day operations of our Maine properties, as well as directing the construction management, maintenance, and operations teams. Dan served as NRC’s construction supervisor on the Merrill’s Wharf historic redevelopment. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in project management and as the east coast manager for a worldwide chemical engineering company. Dan is a Maine native, graduated from the University of Maine in 1979 and attended the Muskie School at the University of Southern Maine from 1988 to 1989.
