31st Street Studios is a 9.4-acre, 240,000 SF mixed-use film studio, office and warehouse facility located within the Strip District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 31st Street Studios is divided into eight customizable sound stages that include effect and set shops, hair/makeup/wardrobe areas, office space, a riverfront outdoor lot, 500-car/tractor trailer parking, and catering areas. Due to Pennsylvania’s generous film industry tax credits, Pittsburgh is a growing film hub. Many notable television shows and films have been shot at 31st Street Studios, including the Mr. Rogers biopic starring Tom Hanks, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale’s infamous film, “The Dark Knight Rises”, and the first season of the hit Netflix series “Mindhunter”. The Strip District submarket is located just north of Pittsburgh’s CBD. The District has rapidly transformed over the last decade into a hotbed of robotics, artificial intelligence, and other fast-growing sectors of technology and innovation. Companies including Facebook, Uber and Apple have opened offices within the district. 31st Street Studios has been owned and operated by NRC since 2017.
